According to Morticia Addams in the 1991 film “The Adams Family,” Calpurnia Addams is a deceased relative who was burned as a witch in Salem in 1706. In this image, Lloyd alludes to the notion of women’s ability to access an inner power, almost a sixth sense, that can produce extraordinary results and for which women have been feared, persecuted, and stunted throughout history.
